Former FBI Director James Comey did not hold back on Monday when a Fox News reporter tried to blame him for the FBI’s reputation with Americans.
After leaving a hearing with the House Judiciary and Oversight Committees, Comey was asked by a Fox News reporter:
“The FBI’s reputation has taken a big hit the last year, do you share any of the responsibility for that?
“No,” Comey replied flatly. “The FBI’s reputation is taking a big hit because the president of the United States, with his acolytes, has lied about it constantly.”
But then Comey got personal with the network and called them out for spreading lies that their viewers way too often believe.
“In the face of those lies, a whole lot of good people that watch your network believe that nonsense,” he said. “That’s a tragedy. That will be undone eventually. But that damage has nothing to do with me.”
